Why Temse
Few municipalities have leaned on one company as heavily as Temse leaned on the Boelwerf. From 1829 to 1994 the yard built ships, at its peak with more than 3,200 employees, and it was by far the largest employer in the region. People from Temse, Hamme, Sint-Niklaas and Bornem earned their living there.
