Web application development cost in 2026
Having a web application built with us usually costs between €8,000 for a well-defined tool and €75,000 or more for a full platform. A web application is software that runs in the browser and that users actually do something in: log in, enter data, follow things up, work together. The price depends on the number of screens, the complexity of the logic and the number of integrations. Here are the ranges, and where the real differences sit.
What does a web application cost on average?
Most projects fall into three brackets. These are the ranges you can realistically expect in the Belgian market and from us.
| Type | What it is | Guide price |
|---|---|---|
| Simple web app or MVP | One process, a handful of screens, one type of user | €8,000 – €25,000 |
| Full platform | Logins, roles, payments, integrations | €25,000 – €75,000 |
| Complex or SaaS product | Multiple user groups, many integrations, high scale | €75,000+ |
These ranges sit close to what having an app built costs, and that makes sense: much of the work lives in the same place, namely the back end with accounts, data and logic. The big difference with a mobile app is explained further down.
What exactly is a web application?
A web application sits somewhere between an ordinary website and an installed app. A website mostly shows information: you read a page and leave. A web application lets you do something, in your browser, without installing anything. A customer portal where people follow up their file, a scheduling platform, a booking system or a dashboard are all web applications.
That difference explains the price gap with a brochure site straight away. An informational website often costs a few thousand euros, because there are no accounts, rules or integrations behind it. As soon as users have to log in and work, you add a back end, user management and security, and you land in the ranges above.
A web application or a mobile app?
If in doubt, start with a web application. It works on phone, tablet and desktop through the same link, is faster to build and is findable straight away through Google and AI search engines. A mobile app only pays off once you genuinely need one of these:
- Working offline, without an internet connection.
- Push notifications on the device.
- Access to the camera, GPS or other hardware.
- A presence in the App Store and the Play Store.
If you do not need those, a web application saves you the cost of two platforms and a store review. We often build the web application first, and a mobile app follows later, once the demand is really there.
What drives the price of a web application?
The same four factors as custom software in general:
- Number of screens and user roles. Different users who each see something different means designing several times over.
- Complexity of the logic. A request form is simple, live price calculation or real-time collaboration is not.
- Number of integrations. Every connection to your accounting system, payment provider or external API is separate work, with testing on top.
- Pace. Going live sooner means more people at once, and so a higher cost.
A web application or a webshop?
If your main goal is selling online, a custom web application is rarely your first step. Off-the-shelf webshop platforms such as Shopify or WooCommerce start around €1,500 in the Belgian market and run up to €20,000 or more for a heavily customised version. Custom only pays off here with complex pricing logic, a B2B catalogue or an integration with your ERP. For a classic webshop an existing platform is usually the better choice, exactly as we explain in custom software or an off-the-shelf package.

Frequently asked questions
- What does it cost to have a web application built?
- A well-defined web application or MVP usually starts around €8,000 and rarely goes above €25,000. A full platform with logins, roles, payments and integrations mostly sits between €25,000 and €75,000. The biggest cost drivers are the number of screens, the complexity of the logic and the number of integrations.
- What is the difference between a website and a web application?
- A website shows information, a web application lets you do something: log in, enter data, follow up orders, work together. A brochure site is usually far cheaper than a web application, because there are no accounts, logic or integrations behind it. As soon as users have to log in and work, you are talking about a web application.
- Web application or mobile app: which do I choose?
- If in doubt, start with a web application. It works on every device through the browser, is faster to build and is findable straight away through Google and AI search engines. A mobile app only pays off once you have to work offline, need push notifications or want to be in the app stores.
- How long does it take to build a web application?
- A first clickable version is usually on a test link after one to two weeks. A full web application takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on its size. We build in weekly cycles, so you see progress every week instead of waiting months for one big reveal.
- Is a custom web application scalable?
- If it is built well, yes. We work with Next.js, Astro and Supabase on infrastructure that grows from ten to thousands of users without starting over from scratch. Scalability is mostly a matter of making the right choices from day one, rather than bolting things on afterwards.
